Bassoon Fingering Programs

These programs do much the same job as my bassoon fingering web server. The advantage for you of having a program is that you can use it when my computer is switched off!

The programs show fingerings for individual notes, and for trills and shakes. The most original feature is the ability to suggest new shake fingerings based on combining all fingerings for each of two notes selected by the user and then ordering them according to how many key changes are required. The RISC OS program also allows you to input your own fingerings and trills, and allows the export of fingerings as draw files. My RISC OS program should run on a PC or Mac, but first you have to get a RISC OS emulator running on your PC or Mac. There are now 2 emulators available - VirtualAcorn, which is an inexpensive, commercial emulator, and Red Squirrel which is slower but won't cost you anything. See links for details.

The RISC OS program is free but copyright ©John Schroder 1998-2003, and the Linux program is released under the GNU General Public License copyright © John Schroder 2006.

Here is a screenshot of the Linux program.

This is my first program using C++ and Qt, and my first rpm so I would be grateful for any feedback from anyone managing to get it to work on their machine. It works on my machines running Suse 10.1 and 10.3. I will keep a list here of any other distros that it runs on, so please send me an email if you get it to work on another distro.
